Most foundations never read a cold proposal.

Questions, answered.

How do I find foundations that fund my nonprofit?

Start with the ones that already gave to groups like yours. Their IRS 990-PF filings list every grant: who got it, how much, and where. LikelyFunders searches those filings by cause, state and budget, and checks whether each foundation takes applications.

Which foundations accept unsolicited proposals?

Some foundations welcome applications; others give only to pre-selected charities. We flag the filing status so you can focus on funders that may read a request.

Which causes are covered?

Animal welfare, youth programs, food banks and hunger relief, and arts and culture. Results come from 15 official 2025 IRS electronic-filing batches. Some states have fewer results than others, and the index does not represent every nonprofit or filing type.

How accurate is the data?

Giving records usually lag by one to two years. Every result shows the tax year covered by the filing and links to the source. Recipient matching and cause classification aren't perfect, and coverage is partial. Check each foundation's current application guidance before applying.

Does it write my grant application?

No. It finds funders, tracks deadlines and helps you reuse your own best writing. Drafts are built from text you saved, with the source shown for every passage.

Can consultants manage several clients?

Yes. The Consultant plan includes up to 10 client workspaces, each with its own funders, deadlines and writing, plus report links you can send to clients.

Can I use it in ChatGPT or Claude?

The connector backend is built for testing, but public directory listings are not live yet. The website works on its own; you don't need either connector.
