Where the data comes from

Every private foundation files Form 990-PF with the IRS each year, and lists every grant on it. We read those returns, match each grant to a nonprofit, and sort the gifts by cause and state. Every gift links back to the return it came from.

We cover animal welfare, youth programs, food banks and hunger relief, and arts and culture.

What it can’t tell you

The returns are usually one to two years old. A foundation that gave to a group like yours is a good lead, not a promise. We don’t award grants, represent any foundation, or guarantee funding. Our matching misses some gifts and files a few under the wrong cause. Check each foundation’s own guidance before you apply.
